Building trusting relationships helps youth grow self-confidence, connect with resources and individuals, and improve overall well-being and academic achievement. We invite mentors with socioeconomic backgrounds similar to our mentees to partner with our students.

Young adults lead by example as they serve as peer mentors to students in middle and elementary school. This credit-bearing program focuses on leadership skills and conflict resolution training.

Opening doors to STEM education. The year-round program offers students a way to explore technology and engineering in an immersive environment while working as a team. Competitive-level training introduces diverse and equitable career possibilities.

Focus is on credit achievement, increasing attendance and retention, and decreasing barriers to academic success. Benchmarks are set by the Oregon Department of Education’s African American Student Success Plan.

Highlighting post-high school opportunities. Students get information and guidance on college preparation including ACT, SAT, and college applications, and exposure to internships, pre-apprenticeships, and personal development skills.

Support

Offering nurturing parenting guidance, stress management, and life skills to help promote healthy parenting. To-be and young parents receive assistance so they can stay in school and on track to graduate.

Closet

Providing POIC + RAHS families with nutritious food, catering to the cultural flavor of our participants. Community partners offer vouchers for protein and produce. “Cooking with What You Have” workshops for young adults.
