OIC reconnects alienated at-risk youth affected by poverty, family instability
and homelessness; with high school education and work training programs
underwritten by a "system of care" to provide the personal and
emotional support necessary to engage in school and training to the age of
stable maturity at 25.
Portland
OIC is a non-profit education management organization, established for 42 years,
currently serving over 475 students and trainees annually, across three
programs:
- 90% graduation rate
- Open-door admissions available to all students
- Caters to those who have failed in the public school
system
- Most are on average two academic years behind their peers
- Many graduate after age 19
Placing 70 trainees in work yearly, growing to a projected 150 by 2011
Partnering with local business advocates who
provide support ranging from tours and seminars, mentoring, internships and paid
work
