Social Media Coordinator

Location:  Multiple locations, Portland, OR

Hours: 8:30 am - 4:30 pm,  Monday - Friday

Reports to: Director of Communications and Strategic Partnerships

Salary: $48,000 - $52,000 Depending on experience

Job Summary: 

This position is responsible for strategizing, crafting, and conveying the agency’s messages to targeted audiences through multiple social media channels by performing the following duties.

POIC + RAHS is a multi-faceted agency that provides wide-ranging services to promote stronger attachments between disenfranchised youth, their families, and the wider community. POIC + RAHS supports several school-based programs for grades 6-12 located throughout the Portland Metro area. All are accredited schools serving more than 350 youth from Portland Public Schools and East County. All programs include paths to earning a high school diploma and/or a GED. In addition, we continue to mentor and support our graduates until they reach the age of stable maturity at age 25.

Job Duties:

  • Creates and coordinates social media content consistent with organization branding and strategies.

  • Manage presence on social networks, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube.

  • Provide reporting and analysis. Follow industry trends, best practices, and competitive activity. 

  • Assists with the implementation of an annual communications and marketing plan. Strategizes with Communications Team and CEO about how best to represent POIC + RAHS, including around the scope of community safety.

  • Collaborates with fellow team members to gather, carefully curate, and expertly craft a range of compelling marketing collateral.

  • Promote social media posts on channels like the company blog and newsletter to increase their visibility and engagement with the target audience.

  • Create blog posts and newsletters incorporating original and compelling social media content.

  • Assists with events, including event planning, volunteer coordination, marketing, messaging, creating, and designing social media collateral for fundraising and community events.

  • Assists with graphic design to contribute to the agency’s photo and video library and participates in strategic brainstorming.

  • Generates periodic updates of high-quality photographs and videos for the website, social media, and print materials.

  • Maintains social media channels and contributes content to other channels as needed.

  • Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.

  • Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.

  • Respectfully takes direction from manager.

Experience/Education:

Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university in communications, journalism, public relations or a closely related field; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior relevant experience with a nonprofit organization, preferred.
