Education Technology Specialist

Location:  Portland

Hours: 7 am – 4 pm, Monday - Friday

Reports to: Chief Information Officer

Salary: $80,000 to $90,000 annually

Job Summary: 

This position is responsible for providing leadership in developing, achieving, and maintaining high-quality technology integration into teaching and learning throughout all educational settings to support teachers in enhancing instruction, improving student performance, and assisting students in becoming technologically competent by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Reviews, selects, and drives adoption of educational technology tools.

  • Provides learning and guidance for educational staff concerning educational technology tools.

  • Acts as a bridge between departments needs concerning educational technology needs.

  • Supports the school district’s vision and strategic plan for digital learning, while also fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation to empower teachers and learners.

  • Designs, implements, and manages instructional technology trainings and programming that meets district and site needs.

  • Provides consultation/support to faculty, staff, and students looking to engage with various teaching/learning technologies.

  • Supports best practices in delivery of online and face-to-face courses, including development of accessible course materials.

  • Supports teachers in creating an engaging digital learning space.

  • Develops learning experiences that are aligned to goals and integrated across the subject areas. Utilizes current research, reading strategies and instructional methods

  • Facilitates the use of emerging technologies related to research, information, and STEM/STEAM.

  • Provides technical support to students and staff in leveraging instructional technologies.

  • Assists IT with installing and maintaining technology equipment and systems to ensure that systems function correctly and effectively in support of district administrative and educational operations.

  • Assists with procurement, inventory, and surplus of technology equipment, systems, and related services for the purpose of ensuring that all technology purchases for goods and/or services are consistent with the district’s technology objectives and that equipment is appropriately inventoried or surpluses consistent with local, district and state regulations.

  • Monitors trends/emerging teaching/learning technologies and maintains knowledge of best practices and assessment methods.

  • Tests technology applications, tools, and programs to assess proposed products, programs, or tools to provide feedback for the administrative decision processes, ensure the appropriate acquisition of educational and operational technology solutions, and assist others with these functions.

  • Performs other duties as directed by the administration.

  • Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.

  •  Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with four to eight years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience working in technology support in an education environment.
