Career Coach – Construction

 

Location: Portland, Oregon

Hours: Monday to Friday

Reports to: Construction Pre-Apprenticeship Program Manager

Salary: $42,928 to $53,660 annually

Job Summary: 

  • Conducts outreach, recruits, enrolls, and maintains a caseload of up to 40 clients, focusing on people ages 18-25. 

  • Coordinates outreach, develops relationships with local employers and creates mechanisms for clients to access continuing education or job placement opportunities.

  • Plans and facilitates job readiness, employment skills, and financial literacy lessons.

Job Duties:

  • Conducting youth orientations and collecting/managing essential forms and paperwork

  • Building relationships with assigned people and potentially the partner agencies affiliated with the people assigned.

  • Collaborates with the Work Opportunities Training (WOT) team and other POIC departments to deliver services across program sites.

  • Collaborates with employer partners to develop opportunities for clients of diverse skill levels to obtain work experience.

  • Offering support services, including clothing and transportation necessary for position requirements and to support successful job completions.

  • Documents all client interaction, progress, participation, and data in a workforce development-specific database system daily.

  • Maintains detailed, organized, and updated files in compliance with local and federal government contractors

  • Research promising practices for serving low-income clients and approaches to alleviating poverty to ensure that the program model is dynamic and responsive to client needs.

  • Works with POIC’s community-based programs to address barriers to sustainable employment.

  • Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.

  • Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation. • Respectfully takes direction from supervisor.

Experience/Education:

  • Highschool diploma/GED required.
