Spring Sparks New Experiences and Passions for Students

Rosemary Anderson High School students traveled this Spring, going across the country to excel and thrive! From a one-hour drive to Mount Hood to a journey to Atlanta, RAHS scholars are out and about, engaging in new experiences.

From the Classroom to the Slopes: Students Unleash Their Passion for Snowboarding!

A group of RAHS East Campus students and adventurous staff members spent six weeks learning how to snowboard at Mount Hood Meadows. The Chill Foundation, a nonprofit on a mission to inspire young people through board sports and build a more equitable outdoor community, broke the barrier of entry to snow sports for our students.

The foundation supplied rentals and snowboarding lessons for the youth’s first-time experience in the sport. The POIC + RAHS Youth Services program also gifted participating students with a shopping spree for their very own snow gear that will last for years. For the program finale, students went one last time to Mt. Hood before the season ended to enjoy a sunny day trying new slopes! Keeping youth engaged in extracurricular and fun activities not only helps them stay motivated and feel connected, it also helps keep them safe.

Shining Bright at MANRRS Conference in Atlanta

Recent RAHS graduate Anabelle Wagy won second place in the Jr. MANRRS written essay contest, giving POIC + RAHS its first win! Annabelle also received a CHS Gold Scholarship, supporting her development in agriculture in college.

Students in the Natural Resource Pathways program recently went on their first-ever trip out of the Pacific Northwest to attend the National MANRRS Conference in Atlanta. During the four-day event, they had the opportunity to meet other students who share their passion for agriculture, natural resources, and science. Students arrived early to visit local attractions, Georgia Aquarium and Atlanta Botanical Garden. Thank you, MANRRS, and other Natural Resource Pathways partners for sponsoring our students and making this incredible experience possible.
