After School Program Coordinator (Temporary)

Location:  Works in the community and across multiple POIC locations within the Portland metropolitan area.

Hours: Monday - Friday 9 am-5:30 pm

Reports to: Program Manager and Director of Youth Services

Salary: $49,000 - $56,000 annually – depending on experience

This position is temporary through September 2024, but there may be more opportunities for this role. The Afterschool Program Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership and overseeing all aspects of our POIC + RAHS After School Program. This position requires direct service to students and families and administrative responsibilities. The After School Coordinator manages activities and staff to ensure each of our five campuses, serving middle and high school youth, provides a robust program to help address unfinished learning as part of a responsive system. This position is also responsible for ensuring these activities are grounded in equity that accelerates learning by building on strengths and addressing the needs of our students and community.

Essential Duties:

  • Provides strengths-based, trauma-informed, and culturally affirming support for our middle and high school students in academic enrichment, wellness, sports, community, and career exposure.

  • Oversees the day-to-day operation of our afterschool program sites. Supervises, coaches, and communicates with program staff, including all operations at the assigned site. Operations include, but are not limited to, program quality, staff development, community partnerships, supply budgeting, and enrollment growth.

  • Recruits retains, and supports students and their families enrolled in the Afterschool Program. Maintains program communication with students and their families. Develops collaborative partnerships with community partners and schools to engage our students in diverse learning opportunities.

  • Collects, monitors, tracks, and evaluates participant and program data.

Experience + Education:

  • An associate degree from a college or technical school or a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university is required.

  • A minimum of four years related experience and training or equivalent combination of education and experience working with youth and families, building collaborative partnerships, tracking data, record keeping, drafting reports, and maintaining student and staff records.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • A valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and automobile liability coverage or access to an insured vehicle. Must pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) check that meets the organization’s underwriting criteria.
