Arrived at RAHS from public high school seeking to catch up on her credits and refocus more on school after struggling with neglect and lack of family support. Committed to RAHS because she felt it was the best route to succeed in High School due to faculty and social support.
Through diligent efforts to find scholarship funding for college she is now enrolled in California and is studying Sports Medicine. Working to support herself in the school library, playing basketball on the college team, and connected to POIC Transitions counselors.
Dropped out senior year in public school, missed a full year of school, and was headed for life as a high school dropout. Plagued with difficult family struggles, family instability, and had experienced homelessness. Was involved in the juvenile justice system.
He is currently a starting player on the PCC basketball team, maintaining a good GPA. He is enrolled in General Studies, and planning to earn an Oregon transfer degree and enroll at University.
First generation American-Cambodian with father absent. Family lived in extreme poverty, with mother a factory worker with long hours. Expelled from traditional school due to substance abuse problems. Referred to RAHS where he achieved the highest math score in RA history in state testing.
Believes education will be his path to his success. Currently working full-time at UPS, and received a promotion to supervisory position. Also enrolled in second year at Community College pursuing a degree in business administration.
Referred to RAHS as a freshman, due to attendance problems and failing grades. At RAHS he took full advantage of all programs including Leadership Academy, a three year Work Training commitment, the Teen Parent Program, the Mentor Program, and many more.
Graduated successfully in 2010 from RAHS, and plans to attend PCC with the goal to transfer to 4-year university, to major in art, and graphic design or trade mechanics.
